Summer

A post from my other blog

Well,  Jasmine has been out of school for a few weeks now, so we are getting settled into our summer routine.  She has been doing okay.  Things had been pretty stressful with my having surgery and what-not. She has had quite a few triggers, but she did start back with karate, so that is fantastic!  We had her take a session off after we got into that car accident, with that and my hysterectomy, we knew she would miss a few days and be distracted. She is such a natural when it comes to karate, and the black-belt training w/ the weapons.  which makes me giggle considering how girlie she really is.  I love the confidence it gives her! And knowing that she can protect herself (kick ass) is so empowering for her!  I just want to hug and kiss all of the instructors, because they have NO IDEA how much this (they) has done for her.

On a sad note, the world has lost an amazing soul, Conner Reed Jones, a 7 year old angel passed away.  This hit our family pretty hard.  I grew up in church with his daddy. Mr. Conner had Cystic Fibrosis, and Prune Belly Syndrome.  He was a beautiful child who smiled though his body was failing him, and spread love around the world.  His mother, Sarah Jones, Started the most beautiful blog about Conner in December of 2009.  I can honestly say that Conner's spirit, and his mothers strength and the families determination have changes our lives forever.   I felt that what I had started out to accomplish with this blog, was too big for me, and that it was no use...pointless.  But, If this mother and father can still fight the disease that took their 7 year old son, I sure as hell can fight for what I feel is right!  My eyes have been OPENED!  I feel like a new person!  I am so grateful for my life, and the opportunities I have in front of me.  I am healthy now, so there isn't ANYTHING standing in my way.  My friends, I hope that you will join me as I stand up for not only my beautiful Jasmine, but for all sexual assault/abuse victims.  And I hope you will also read Sarah's blog, http://notsobrightandshiny.blogspot.com and let Conner's legacy, his spirit, and his mothers inspiring strength truly touch your soul.  Life is short, and its all about love my friends.  Take a stand for what you feel is right.  Do nice, caring things for others.  Tomorrow is a gift, not guaranteed.  Live every day as it was your last!

I will post a link to my petition as soon as it is done, next week I hope, and let you know what my next step is!
